Role
 
The Financial Controller will have functional responsibility over the accounting function including revenue, accounts payable, inventory, tax, insurance and payroll. The Controller will ensure that the Company has appropriate process and systems in place for timely and accurate reporting for management and external stakeholders.


What You'll Do
  • Transition the key month-end finance processes in-house, including revenue reconciliation, inventory accounting, accounts payable and general ledger
  • Manage and oversee day-to-day activities of the accounting department; this will include billing, accounts payable and payroll
  • Maintain schedules related to fixed assets, prepaid and accrued expenses.
  • Document accounting policies and procedures pursuant to GAAP
  • Develop and implement process, technology and internal controls to support effective financial and accounting operations, compliance and achieve successful audits
  • Partner with Director of Finance in preparation for board meetings and budgeting/forecasting/reporting process; assisting identify, documenting and effecting corrective actions
  • Work with CPA firm to prepare and file federal/state income tax. Prepare and file sales tax, liaising with tax firm to ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations
  • Prepare and coordinate all audit activity
  • Partner with a cross-functional team to implement new ERP systems.
 
What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA required
  • 6-10 years of experience in roles of increasing responsibility 
  • Experience in commercial accounting roles coordinating audit activities and leading the monthly close process
  • “Big Four” experience
  • Experience with ERP installations
  • Proven ability to recruit, mentor, train, and retain talent
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated experience communicating results internally and externally 
  • Experience with an eCommerce, retail or start-up is a plus
