In hematology, the Company and its global collaboration partner, Celgene, are developing luspatercept for the treatment of chronic anemia in myelodysplastic syndromes, beta-thalassemia, and myelofibrosis. Acceleron is also advancing its neuromuscular program with ACE-083, a locally-acting Myostatin+ agent in Phase 2 development in facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy and Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease and is conducting a Phase 2 pulmonary program with sotatercept in pulmonary arterial hypertension.

In this role, you will focus on leading commercial strategy to support the Acceleron pipeline in neuromuscular diseases, with a near focus on ACE-083 in Facioscapulohumeral Muscular Dystrophy (FSHD) and Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT). Reporting to the Vice President of Market Development, you will be able to apply your expertise and understanding of drug development and commercialization to optimize the development and plan for commercialization of Acceleron’s clinical development compounds. You will influence both business development and portfolio strategy and will have substantial interaction with essentially all departments within the organization.

What will you be doing? 

  • Working collaboratively with clinical development and program management as a key member of the Neuromuscular Core Team to define and deliver on therapeutic area strategy
  • Partnering within the Neuromuscular Core Team to develop a comprehensive phase 3 and long-term development strategy for ACE-083
  • Developing a research plans to guide strategy as well as a global brand plan for ACE-083
  • Providing commercial assessment to support lifecycle management, new programs, and business development
  • Organizing advisory boards and market research programs as needed to better inform key commercial questions
  • Aligning with market access and other cross functional partners to establish product positioning and ensure market awareness and understanding
  • Contributing to messaging and communication planning, including scientific/clinical conference abstracts and manuscript submissions to peer reviewed journals

What are we looking for?

  • At least 10 years of relevant professional experience in the biopharmaceutical industry which may include new product planning, strategic/global marketing, or commercial strategy
  • MBA or advanced degree
  • Prior experience in rare neuromuscular diseases
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to articulate commercial position in a cross-functional setting
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others across all functions and levels within the organization
  • Excellent organizational skills and comfort with multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
