About your role:

Fandom is seeking an experienced Software Development Manager to lead and grow our Gamepedia engineering team. This team is responsible for building, maintaining, and advancing our Hydra Wiki Platform which hosts all wikis on Gamepedia. This platform powers nearly 2,000 gaming communities including Official wikis for Minecraft, ARK, Terraria, and Path of Exile, along with top esports wikis and projects covering other titles like PUBG, Dota 2, World of Warcraft, and many many more. You'll be responsible for supporting business growth, user engagement, and security through effective development team management and engineering practices. Your prime directive will be to ensure that Gamepedia technology, frameworks, and developers achieve max level. As a Software Development Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the development team to meet key business goals on time with high quality
  • Focusing your team on engineering best practices and sound software design approaches
  • Clarifying design and technical requirements
  • Driving effective business, technical, and planning discussions
  • Clearly communicating goals and project status to your team as well as the rest of the business
  • Accelerating growth and development of the team and the team members
  • Participating in the hiring process for multiple teams
  • Some hands-on software development

  • Leading an autonomous and empowered product development team with a strong focus on teamwork
  • Establishing a strong devops engineering culture within an organization
  • Successfully organizing execution of projects with a distributed development team
  • Driving the full application development lifecycle including design, development, monitoring and maintenance
  • Building large scale software systems in a cloud infrastructure
  • LAMP stack development
  • Developing Mediawiki extensions and/or contributing to the MediaWiki codebase
