As a DEVOPS Team Lead, you will help to remove inefficiencies in the way Zopa use (or don’t use) technology to drive value for the business. Automating, helping to design and support the various technology infrastructure to help Zopa grow. Both in our self-hosted datacentres and the cloud.

The platforms team has been created to improve the way we deliver our infrastructure and evolve our DEVOPS culture at Zopa. The team is responsible for evolving our infrastructure platforms to be drivable by our development tribes so that they can be more autonomous and agile, replacing tickets with APIs, designing reliable services whilst also supporting the security processes that are required in an FCA audited environment. We aim to curate the right selection of technologies, such as cloud providers, container platforms, monitoring, metrics and logging, open source projects, to achieve our goals.

The Platform Team Lead will be engaged in the following on a day to day basis:
Leading the team and planning the future technology platform. Building a shared vision/roadmap with the development tribes and senior management, using agile project management processes (e.g. SCRUM, Kanban). Communicating with stakeholders and bringing teams closer together.
Automating our infrastructure in AWS with terraform.
Improving our application release processes and pipelines.
Upgrading our container platforms to the latest version of Kubernetes and utilising the latest features.
Designing processes and tools that help our developers to take more control of their products and the infrastructure they need.

The Architect/Engineer
Broad knowledge of technology, with the ability to deep-learn specific stacks.
Experience with configuration management (Packer, Puppet, Chef, Terraform etc.) essential.
AWS experience ideally or other Cloud platforms acceptable. HashiCorp tools (packer, terraform, vault, consul) a benefit.
A good knowledge of at least one programming language and the willingness to dabble in others (Ruby, Go, Python, .NET) is essential.
An interest in delivering services as an API a benefit.
Knowledge of Kafka clusters or other messaging technologies.
Monitoring/metrics/log aggregation techniques.
Linux administration (Ubuntu, CoreOS) is essential.
Interest in Linux containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) beneficial.
Ability to troubleshoot and tune performance essential.
