Light’s Technology Manager is responsible for defining, planning, and guiding specific internal research and development projects. Working under the Product organization to establish deep understanding and clear definition of Light’s technical endeavors, the Technology Manager engages heavily with our Product Managers and Engineering research teams to successfully develop and accomplish project goals and requirements. Leveraging direct personal knowledge in topics like Computational Imaging, Machine Learning, Advanced Optics, and more, our successful Technology Managers play a major part in helping to define how Light’s scientific advancements continue to change the world.

what you will do...

    • Contribute to the Light technology roadmap for specific research areas: establishing requirement and feature definition, clarifying measures of success, and working with Engineering and Product teams to maintain a tight relationship between new technologies and the advancements and requirements of Light customer-facing products.
    • Leverage direct personal knowledge and experience to drive forward one or more areas of Light investigation.
    • Work with our Product Managers to contribute to the planning and delivery of well defined and milestone-based initiatives along Light development paths.
    • Coordinate with Engineering on technology initiatives and continuously represent the needs and goals of the entire Product team.
    • Work with Operations and Program Management for aspirational and achievable scheduling, planning, and ongoing support and refinement of multiple technology projects.
    • Establish clear technical requirements and functionality, and work heavily with the Product and Marketing teams to support outbound messaging for Light technical advancements.
    • Engage Light Engineering and R&D teams to identify and clearly define new endeavors to stay at the forefront of imaging technology.

what you bring to Light...

    • 2+ years in one or more of the following fields: Computational Imaging, Machine Learning, Advanced Optical or Imaging Systems, Computer Vision, Image and Video Signal Processing and Calibration
    • Direct experience in definition of applied technology, work with endeavors that bridge hardware and software capabilities is a plus
    • Specific proficiency in multi-tiered research ownership and management
    • Strong relationships with research and development engineering teams
    • An advanced technical background is expected, with overlapping experience in imaging fields a strong plus
    • Love of and strong interest in photography and imaging, at any capability level, is highly encouraged
    • Minimum MS/ME or equivalent experience in technology-related fields
