Role description:
 
The main responsibilities of this role are the design, management and support of Zopa Data Centres, co-located at Third-party Data Centre providers.
 
Zopa currently employs two co-located cage Data Centre environments, geographically separated and configured and built-out as identical sites, each is capable of fully supporting the full stack of Zopa Production services, and Zopa critical workplace services requiring high availability and performance.
 
This role is responsible for all aspects of physical support and management of Zopa Data Centres and would suit an aspiring and fastidious Data Centre Technician / Supervisor ready to run their own sites.

Main responsibilities:

    • High and low-level design solutions for Data Centre projects
    • Develop Zopa standards for patching, labelling and installations
    • Fully document and keep current all Rack, Schematics, Patching and cross-connects records
    • Management of Rack U and Footprint Space capacity, ensuring efficient use of space at all time
    • Manage access permissions for Data Centre facilities, ensuring regulatory compliance
    • Manage Data Centre work, Method Statements and Risk assessments ensuring regulatory compliance
    • Manage vendors and for quotations and deliverables, ensure quality is maintained
    • Perform service reviews with vendors
    • Witness and attend site for vendor power tests etc
    • Raise orders with vendors for cross-connects, cabling, installations etc
    • When needed, perform Rack, Stack & Patch for small and ad-hoc installations
    • Knowledge of Data Centre M&E infrastructure including support process and requirements
    • Knowledge of Data Centre IT infrastructure including, Network, Compute and Storage Platforms
    • Be an expert on incident calls, enabling trouble shooting and Incident resolution in a timely manner
    • Assist in the creation of RunBooks for product support and operations
    • Working hours 09:00 to 17:30 weekdays
    • Potential for unsocial hours, attending site when required, providing 24/7 support.

    • Degree level education or equivalent experience
    • ITIL experience
    • System Administration skills, Network, Compute, Storage

    • Passion for meticulous standards
    • 3+ years’ experience in Data Centre environment
    • Strong technical competencies resulting from previous working experience at expert level within an IT operational or support environment.
