The Compliance Officer (Assurance) will be responsible for performing high quality and consistent compliance testing and monitoring across the business, ensuring that appropriate governance, systems and controls are in place and working effectively.  We have a friendly, fun, and ambitious culture where everyone contributes pro-actively towards the growth of the business, so a parallel mind-set is what we are looking for.
 
As we’ll be launching a new bank (exciting!) you’ll need to be the type of person who has an interest in learning, supporting, and challenge control owners on all areas of regulatory risk within departments. This is an exciting role and we’re looking for an individual with a compliance assurance (testing and monitoring) background who wants a role where they can get involved in creating and delivering a holistic assurance approach.

Key Responsibilities

    • Delivery of the annual compliance monitoring programme and regular status updates
    • Perform compliance reviews across the business to ensure adherence to regulatory and internal policies, including reviews on third parties
    • Issue recommendations following compliance reviews and any identified breaches
    • Follow up and approve remediation work as required from issued recommendations
    • Maintain a conduct risk focus on reviews ensuring customer outcomes are fair and appropriate
    • Supporting regulatory risk assessments for new products and other business initiatives
    • Supporting other ad-hoc projects

Ideally you will have:

    • Knowledge and experience of implementing a compliance monitoring programme within a retail banking/financial services environment
    • Experience in delivering reports and findings within a growing, dynamic and fast paced organisation
    • Proven audit / testing experience/analytical skills
    • Ability to recognise regulatory risks related to business decisions
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Knowledge and experience of quality assurance processes and approach
    • Eloquent, able to explain complex sets of rules / translate regulations into clear language to all levels of staff.

Educational/qualifications required:

      • Educated to degree level (2:1) or equivalent experience
      • Preferably a candidate with good knowledge of FCA principles and Consumer Credit regulations
      • ICA / industry qualifications helpful but not essential
